Business Day reports that staff employed at Life Healthcare's Mount Edgecombe Hospital and affiliated to the Health and Other Services Personnel Trade Union of SA (Hospersa) went on strike on Wednesday, demanding that the management lift its wage increase offer from 7% to 8%. Mount Edgecombe is a 165-bed facility in KwaZulu-Natal. During the strike, Hospersa has categorically made the point that it rejects the notion of inflation-linked increases and is demanding an increase that "at least begins to speak to the realities of today's economic climate."
